SQUARE DYNAMICS

exposition
"Square Dynamics" — a mapping that transforms form across art history: from the earliest drawings to the digital future.

Each incarnation of the square is shown as a reflection of its artistic era — including Malevich's Black Square, which resides at the General Staff Building in St. Petersburg. This weaves the city into the fabric of art history and uncovers its cultural layers: from ancient echoes to the avant-garde and new media.

In this mapping, the square is not just a key metaphorical symbol but also part of the architectural narrative. It turns the façade of the Alexandrinsky Theater into an independent media object — one that brings together different eras, meanings, and forms.

The mapping was presented at the "Digital Rain" media festival in St. Petersburg.
